About Lauren

I am the founder, publisher, and editor-in-chief of Southwest Contemporary, an award-winning contemporary arts publication in print and online that reaches more than 280,000 readers per year.

I am passionate about fostering empathy and critical thinking through arts journalism and cultural criticism, connecting national and international audiences to contemporary art of the Southwest, and creating opportunities and resources that help propel creative work forward. I also offer consulting services to artists and arts organizations and have prior experience in arts administration.

I'm proud and honored to have worked with hundreds of art world clients on marketing and advertising programs. I’ve benefitted from having a broad, top-down view of the Southwest regional art community—including its unique assets and challenges—which has led me to develop a passion for building a better economic reality for the arts and creative sectors in regional/intercoastal art markets.

I have a Master of Arts in Humanities from the University of Chicago where I studied Medieval and Renaissance art history and critical theory, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Art History from UCLA.
